Lacita Moody, LPC
DIRECTOR
Lacita Moody is a Licensed Professional Counselor, clinical supervisor, and founder of Female Empowered Progressions (FEP) Counseling, a St. Louis–based practice dedicated to helping women heal and grow. She specializes in trauma-informed care, EMDR, CBT, and anxiety treatment, with a particular focus on supporting BIPOC women navigating stress, self-worth, and boundaries.
In addition to her private practice, Lacita serves as an adjunct clinical supervisor, mentoring the next generation of counselors with a focus on reflective practice, ethical care, and trauma competency. She is also an active entrepreneur, blending clinical expertise with creative outreach through community workshops and social media education designed to make mental health resources more accessible.
Passionate about empowerment and progression, Lacita’s mission is to provide safe, affirming spaces where individuals can reclaim their voices, build resilience, and define success on their own terms. Her work is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and a deep belief in the power of healing.
Yvette Joy Liebesman
DIRECTOR
Yvette Joy Liebesman is a Professor of Law at Saint Louis University School of Law. She joined the faculty in 2008 and is the founder and directs the school's Intellectual Property Law Concentration program. Her research interests focus on Copyright and Trademark law and their intersection with art, science, and technology; she teaches several of the school’s Intellectual Property Law courses as well as Wills & Trusts.
In 2013 Professor Liebesman was awarded the International Trademark Association's Ladas Award for writing excellence on the subject of trademarks and related matters and was the 2015 recipient of the Sponsored Scholarship Grant administered by University of Houston's Institute for Intellectual Property & Information Law. In 2017, she was elected to membership in the American Law Institute.
In addition to Voices of American HERStory, she also sits on the Advisory Board for the Center for Art Law and on the Board of Directors for Class Crits.
Professor Liebesman is a 2006 cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and earned her first undergraduate degree in 1986 in the school's College of Arts and Sciences. In addition, she holds degrees from Rutgers (BA in Physics, magna cum laude, in 1989) and Scripps Institution of Oceanography (MS in Earth Sciences in 1991). Immediately following law school, Professor Liebesman clerked for the Honorable Helen E. Hoens of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, then practiced in the intellectual property transactional group at Ropes & Gray LLP in Boston, MA. She is a member of the New Jersey and Massachusetts bars.
Joani Alsop
DIRECTOR
Joani is the leader of Joani Alsop Coaching and Consulting. Prior roles include Director of Coaching with a start-up nonprofit, Director of Learning and Women in Leadership Program Facilitator for FOCUS St. Louis, Executive Coach/Consultant with a global consulting firm, and Associate Director, Career Management at Maryville University.
Joani is experienced in organization and leadership development, coaching, executive assessment, and career development, in internal and external roles. With a passion for growth and development, her expertise includes innovative work that strengthens leadership and organizational capability, team development, and inclusion and belonging, to accelerate positive impact for individuals, teams, organizations and communities.
In addition to Voices of American HerStory, Joani serves on the board of the St. Louis Organization Development Network as Community Outreach Chair, and the International Coach Federation St. Louis Chapter as Inclusion & Belonging Director. She also is a member of the G.R.I.T. Community. She is an author in the #1 International Best-Seller “Tenacity – Deconstructing G.R.I.T. Collection.”
Joani holds a BS in Business Management and MA in Organizational Leadership & Development. She completed her coach training as a Master Business Coach and Performance Leadership Coach with B-Coach Systems, and is a graduate of Class 57 Women in Leadership Program. She is Dare to Lead trained, a Certified Happiness Trainer, certified in the Birkman and MBTI assessments, and experienced with 15 leadership assessment tools.
Rebecca Now
FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Rebecca Now is an author, innovative historian, and performer with a passion for women’s rights history. She is author of the award-winning book, Borrowed Courage, exploring the journey of three 21st century women, each of whom forged a bond and profound respect for a 19th century women’s right pioneer. Rebecca developed a reenactment trio performing Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, and Sojourner Truth. Performers have been added, including Ida B. Wells, Harriet Tubman and more, and the performances have evolved into a “Talk Show” format. Calling her show “HERstory Comes to Life” Rebecca plays the host with a stage name, Rebecca-Now-And-Then, where she introduces time-traveling guests from the past, and she interviews them about their challenges and how they stepped into their wisdom and power. Her non-profit, Voices of American HERstory, performs nationwide for community groups, libraries, national historical parks, schools, and more.
Rebecca loves her city of Saint Louis, Missouri, and enjoys its vibrant arts culture.
