After our performance, a young 7th grader approached the stage, her blue backpack slung over her shoulders. We had just finished a historical reenactment at a local middle school, embodying the lives of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Sojourner Truth, and Susan B. Anthony. The girl gently placed her backpack down and looked up at us, her eyes filled with gratitude. “Thank you for what you did,” she said, addressing our characters from the 19th century. That moment is etched in my memory, forever serving as fuel for my passion. It was a poignant reminder that our work matters – breathing life into the stories of early pioneers of women’s rights and imparting knowledge to a new generation hungry for understanding. For too long, our history textbooks have overlooked the arduous struggle for women’s equality.
As we approach GiveSTLDay on May 9th, with early giving already underway, countless solicitations from various nonprofit organizations flood our inboxes and social media feeds. Today, I urge you to consider supporting Voices of American HERstory. Why? Because history matters! Your contribution, whether small or large, will help us continue our mission of illuminating the past and empowering future generations. Thank you in advance for your support.
